The ban of mammoth ivory cannot happen because the Inuit sell it to help feed their families.
I reckon the government could buy it and burn it until there was no more to be found.
Don't know if this was mentioned, I got lost trying to read the entire thread.

I cannot see museums the length and breadth of America destroying Ivory artefacts.

I also regret that until action is taken to persuade certain Asian nations to abandon the use of things like Ivory, tiger body parts and bear bile, which is harvested in an extremely cruel way, then the trade will continue regardless of the actions of American legislation.
